Since becoming a mom, the amount of time I spend on getting ready is slim. I’m so busy preparing the diaper bag for every possible scenario while out in public that getting myself ready is like a magic trick. What will she pull out of the bag today? When I don’t have time to iron my hair, these easy overnight heatless curls are my go-to. These are also heatless curls you can sleep in.
What products do I need to create heatless curls?
For this heatless curls tutorial, I am using a headband scarf. I’ve also seen this work with a robe belt and long wool socks. I recommend picking what you feel will be best for your hair. You will also need an 2 scrunchies, leave-in conditioner and a hair clip.
You can also just spray water to dampen the hair and skip the leave-in conditioner. My hair needs a little coaxing to curl and look hydrated, the moisturizer helps with that. This really depends on your hair type.
Before we start, you can do these two ways. With slightly damp or dry hair. If you are doing it with dry hair, you have to hydrate your hair to mold the curl as you sleep.
How to get overnight heatless curls?
- Start by combing out your hair. You want to make sure there are zero knots.
- Part your hair down the middle on the top, into two sections.
- Clip the headband to the top of your head, leaving the same length on each side.
- Starting at the top, grab a small piece of hair and wrap it over the scarf and bring it around to the front.
- Grab another small piece of hair and repeat the above with the rest of your hair.
- Once you reach the bottom, secure your end onto the headband with your scrunchie.
- Do the same thing on the opposite side.
- Simply go to sleep.
- Enjoy your results in the morning.

Do heatless curls damage your hair?
Not at all!! That’s the beauty of these curls. Since they are heatless, you aren’t putting your hair through harsh conditions of a curling iron or wand. You are also moisturizing your hair if you chose to apply a leave-in conditioner.
