Aloe vera face masks have been part of my skincare routine for years. It uplifts and refreshes the skin. There are many benefits of aloe vera. It can be used to treat a variety of skin issues like sunburned skin, skin irritations, healing for fresh scars, acne and dark spots.
What is Aloe Vera?
Aloe vera is a medicinal plant that has been used for thousands of years. This short stubby plant stores water in its leaves that when released is a clear gel. Its gooey substance can be applied directly from the plant onto the skin. You can buy it as a cream, gel or ointment to treat skin conditions. Aloe vera is also available in liquid form to promote health and well-being.
But today we are talking about homemade aloe vera face masks. The plant in its purest form to yield its maximum benefits. All you need is an aloe leaf to begin.
My love for this plant began eight years ago, after I missed a step on the corner of a sidewalk. I face planted onto the cement. Chipped a tooth and had two large abrasions on the left side of my face. Certain I was scarred with these marks for life, I applied antibiotic ointment as a solution. Thankfully my parents knew exactly what my skin needed to heal. Applying aloe vera gel directly onto the injuries multiple times a day, healed my skin. Zero scarring. Zero evidence. It worked like a dream. Since then aloe vera is a staple household plant for me with a very special place in my heart. I’m even using it as part of my pregnant skincare belly routine.
Aloe vera facials are a dream for your skin. Let’s get right to it!
The Simple Aloe Vera Facial Mask
My go-to face mask at home, the pure aloe vera gel. After peeling the spiny outer shell of the plant, I scoop out the insides along with the clear gel. The gooey gel is the magic sauce so don’t let that go to waste. Lather your face with the gel and let your skin soak it up. No need to wash your face after. A true all natural face mask.
I usually place it in a small mason jar in the fridge. I find it gives the mask a cooling effect and is great for tightening the skin and under eyes.

Honey has many skincare benefits. From smoothing, softening and even clearing your skin, it is a workhouse for face masks. For this face mask, mix equal parts honey and aloe vera gel in a small bowl.
